Restoration

When there are those in our midst who are stuggling with sin, our role is to “restore such a one.” The very word restore speaks of something painstaking and sensitive, suggesting a need for extreme patience and care. Think of something like the Sistine Chapel and the restoration of Michelangelo’s masterpiece. The restoration of this work takes dozens upon dozens of years to accomplish. Time is never of the essence, but caution, care, and attention to detail are. If the time, money and energy were expended on a beautiful piece of art, why wouldn’t we want to take even more care and be more cautious and patient with the creation of God? My approach to those struggling with sin will encompass this. We are ALL in a process of being restored. Restoration happens on God’s timetable not ours. I want to gather a people who have a heart to serve God and others, who care about those who have lost their way and need a safe place to undergo restoration. I am confident that it is God’s heart and desire to see men and women restored in relationship with Him. We were created in glory, in the image of God, and sin has distorted that image; therefore, we come to Christ to forgive us of our sins and in doing so enter into a process of being restored into men and women who reflect the image of God. It is not a matter of what we don’t do, but what we do. We are called first and foremost to love God and love others, Restoration Fellowship will be a place where this is emphasized and prioritized.
