In Galatians 6:1-3 it states: 1"Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. 2Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
"Who among us has not sinned? If you have come to Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, you have admitted that you are a sinner. In fact we are a fellowship of sinners, every one of us in need of forgiveness and mercy."
So when there are those among us who are struggling with sin in our midst our role is to "restore such a one." The very word restore speaks of something painstaking and sensitive. Where there is a need for extreme patience and care. Think of something like the Sistine Chapel and the restoration of the masterpiece of Michelangelo. The restoration of this work takes dozens upon dozens of years to accomplish. Time is never of the essence, caution, care, and detail are.
If the time, money and energy are expended on a beautiful piece of art, why wouldn’t we want to take even more care and be more cautious and more patient with the creation of God?
My approach to those struggling with sin will be just that, patient, cautious, careful and patient. Restoration happens on God’s time table, not ours. I want to gather a people who have a heart to serve God and others, who care about those who have lost there way and need a safe place to undergo restoration.
